TAS South Suffolk have recently set up a Heritage Volunteer Scheme.  We have already begun a project at Little Hall in Lavenham and others are currently under discussion.  Sheila Woodward, Heritage Volunteer Co-ordinator, will be glad to hear from you if you are interested in working in local museums, archives, gardens or historic houses. Heritage Volunteers work closely with curators and managers and become involved with:

  • on-site conservation of books, manuscripts, archives and maps
  • cataloguing documents and archival listing
  • conservation of arms and armour, medals and military silver
  • preventative conservation of textiles, replica work and creation of period costumes.

We are drawing up a list of people who might wish to become involved in any way.   The people on the list will be among the first to receive news of new projects which we are exploring, and they will have the opportunity to say whether or not they wish to participate. Previous experience is not essential and training is available where required.
